Do you wanna know what some of the most annoying sounds in the world are? One of them I have concluded today, is the busy signal on a phone. Now I am particularly annoyed at this point, because for a good 2 hours total today more or less, I have been trying to get reservations to the Oprah show for my friends and I when we are in Chicago next Tuesday. And all you get all freakin' day long is a busy signal! Mind you, I was aware that this would happen, because I have heard it from a few sources. However, the utter annoyance of this is beyond belief! How am I (or the general public for that matter as well) to know that there really are reservation people on the phone, and not just some chummy people sitting their lazy asses at a desk busying their line out so that they don't have to answer? Oprah though she is a billionaire, beautiful and intelligent should invest in a recording or some type of hold mechanism. Stupid-head.

Next, I bring you the second most annoying sound of the world: people chewing food. This has always bothered my mom, because I can remember walking around a store with my mom when I was like 4, chewing gum. And my mom says, "Stop chewing that so loud, you sound like a cow!" Now in my little 4 year old head, I thought that only I could actually hear myself chewing my gum, but 18 years later, the world has proven me wrong. Anyhow, this has been a pet peeve of my mom's since I can remember. Therefore, just recently it has been driving me nuts. Someone I know (not gonna mention names) has been driving me nuts lately with his (not a girl, you can relax now) with his mannerisms of chewing food and chewing gum. Holy shit kid, learn some fuckin' manners! I don't know, maybe he has been annoying me in general lately, but that has definitely proven to be more than I can take.

I think overall, today has just been a relatively bad day. I had a session this morning, one of the kids who attended it wouldn't give me his soc # and wanted to know why I wanted it in the first place. "Uh yes sir, I do intend to call the FBI as soon as you leave, in order to find out why exactly you are attending a seminar on speeding up your reading rate and perhaps I will check while I am at it to see if you have any felony convictions." Umm, how about no...it's a record keeping thing, ignoramus. (sp?) Anyhow, then I go to Spanish class to take a midterm, which if you read yesterdays blog you will see I was quite confident about. I studied a bit this morning, but didnt worry about it a whole lot. Well, I did know the material so when I took my "glance over" of the test (Test Taking strategies seminar tip) I felt confident. Mind you, we have 50 minutes to do this test and it involves 4 identifications, 2 short essays and then 2 additional essays. Really now kids, do you think 50 minutes is enough time to do that in any class, let alone in SPANISH? Me neither. I know if I finished it with 0 minutes to spare and that was leaving out some necessary details I will probably get marked down for, the class average is going to be low because those people weren't able to finish it either.

So here I am at work, waiting for the clock to strike 5 so I can take my tired ass home. I'm on this decongestant medication that I can only take once every 12 hours that makes my ass drag all day long - last night I was in bed at 9:50 or so and today was my late day! Becky wants us all to go to Panera tonight and that's all cute and great but I don't have any money to really "splurge" on Panera, nor do I have the desire to sit at a table and eat things that I shouldn't when I have a take-home midterm that I have to turn in tomorrow, along with a re-write due of my sucky Language 375 paper on "Epistemological Metaphors in Borges". Yeah, I wrote the paper once and got a C/B on it, and I still dont know what in the hell an epist#*(&$$(# metaphor is!

My thoughts for the day? When life sucks, get the Hoover out, baby. (Fuck, I have to vacuum tonight too!) But on a more sensical quote, We shall quote an email I got from Marcy this morning with a quote from my beloved Rachel Marie: " I miss Erin soooo much we need her to babysitter tomorrow!" Really though, 3 year olds say it the best of the whole world - screw politicians.

Peace out.

Please, please, please tell me you sense the negativitity in this post because I sure as hell do!

Holy 2 months later, perhaps I should get off my lazy ass and post to this blog! We all know that I am on the computer like nothing else, therefore it would seem sensical that I would stay pretty current with my blog...but I just don't. I don't have any excuses - school is fine, not too demanding, I'm not working excessively, and we all know my social life has taken a dive this semester because a) I'm poorer than po' and b) no more Wayside Wednesday for me after I suffered the years worst hangover at the beginning of January and I also work at 8 am on Thursday so that is no good either. So basically all I do is daydream, eat, sleep, check my email for some odd reason and watch tv and occasionally study. Tomorrow I have a Spanish 321 test, but since I have had this professor 2 times before and like her, I know all too well that her tests aren't that demanding and even if I talk out of my pinkie toe, I will still get a BA. Aahh, the advantages of the good ole' Spanish department here at WMU :)

Anyway, as always I am glad/sad to report that my life is the same as usual and nothing too exciting is going on. Well there is of course the wonderful news that I am going to Chicago on Sunday for a few days wit' my girls, but figuring I might have to sell about 20 lbs of plasma in order to fund that trip, can't say that I am looking all that forward to it. How in the hell am I gonna go to Spain for 4 months if I can't afford Chicago for 2 days? The trials and tribulations of the average American college student on the next Maury Povich...speaking of talk shows, attempting to get Oprah tickets for the Tuesday we are in Chicago...wish me luck!

Odd opinion of the day. I honestly think I am learning more this semester than I have learned in my whole career here at WMU. I have this great "Life & Culture of Hispanics in the US" class that I adore and am learning so much from. Beyond that, I have an Advanced Spanish conversation class, where I basically just listen and avoid talking but still have a lot of fun in. Anyway, my point is that in my conversation class, we get off on these odd tangents, but I learn SO much from them - my professor is one of the smartest people I have ever met. Anyway, we were talking one week about buying alcohol, and dumb 21 year old me had no idea that you can't buy alcohol before noon on Sunday. Yes, I have lived in Michigan my whole life and never knew that. I also didn't know that you can't fly from the US to Cuba directly because the US will not allow you to. So, to sum this all up - I think I am learning more from our conversations rather than the texts we actually read in class. But I guess that is how life in general is, no? Did you ever notice that native Spanish speakers add a "no?" to their sentences where we add a "right?". I like that.

Damn, I put in the Dixie Chicks CD just to listen to "Travelin' Soldier" and I was so not paying attention to it - gotta repeat it. Therefore, I think it's time to get up make dinner on the Foreman, watch Will & Grace two times, clean the living room/dining room and then study for a bit. Oh my life is oh so exciting.
